All great advice. I have worked in our family owned shop my entire life, over 60 years in business. As the owners son I would say it's imperative to pace yourself for the long haul and stay goal oriented. Always have a goal to work towards. Goals develop direction and purpose for the business and the employees. Yes we all want to make money, yes we all want the cars to go out properly with no comebacks but have a vision for the business. Always ask whats next? How can we do it better? This lack of vision is admittedly our greatest mistake in our business so I thought I should share it.
thanks for all those tips the sound clear and real. i also want to stat up my own shop but am just worried of how people take our profession in our country and can hardly give you the exact money you have billed for a particular job or repair
Spot on, if you don’t know how to run a shop, DON’T. just get a job at a dealer or somewhere that has a great service tech.. And please, have the ability to be humble, and LEARN.
I am mobile, and won’t do work for people reselling or any dealers. I started doing this to help people, when the dealerships and independent shops punted.
Stay true to your values, and the reasons why you think you hate working for your current boss, because if your not humble, you will become your last boss before you know it.
My two cents
Invest in a good website. See what F5-Studio web agency has done for guys from Total. Collision and PDR
Forget about the Auto Repair business, it's a complete headache. Customers are cheap & hard to find good techs. Good luck…
How do I start my own shop? I have a love of cars and a MBA but no money.
A guy who owned a shop I took my first car too told me he loved to solve problems and turn wrenches so he hired someone to manage his business while he continued to work on cars. A good idea in my opinion
I want to thank you both for making this video. For a LONG time I struggled with what I wanted to do with my life (due to the economic crash in 2005 when I graduated high school). For me I love cars, like to fix on them but didn't see myself doing that for the rest of my life. I always had a interest in accounting as a career but cars are my hobby and extreme interest for me. You always hear "do something that interest you or that you love to do". I think I have an answer to what I want to do now (Hell, I'm 33 Now!). But it's never to late to be great in my book. Thanks guys.
Don't start an auto business you will fail. The dealer is the only way.
They have information you can't get. Cars are becoming disposable . I won't waste good money on a car, buy then chuck it.
Food, people have to eat the best
Option.
This is glorious, I've been looking for "royal oak auto repair" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried – Ziyatalie Fanayla Secret – (just google it )?
It is a great one off product for discovering some tricks to repair your vehicle without the hard work. Ive heard some great things about it and my work buddy got great success with it.
Just wonderful, been searching for "fixes cars" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of – Ziyatalie Fanayla Secret – (should be on google have a look )?
It is a smashing one off product for discovering some tricks to repair your vehicle minus the hard work. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my buddy got cool success with it.
Shes talking about opening a super clean trendy corporate shop. What about opening a real shop with like 2 mechanics and a out of service coke machine and a hand painted sign.
Can you make yourself work! A good buisness man can motivate themselves, they don't need to hear of being fired to do it.
Wow the comments, are more spot on than the video. You do have to be good at managing money, I don't recommend going to buisness with a partner or creates conflict. I am no expert but I'm considering going into buisness for myself. I know it's a lot of work but I work hard now and I rewarded for it.
She only said the negative aspect of it.
No1..promote Communist Chinese tools, no matter how bad they are tell your viewers, they are great, you will be rewarded with Free Chinese tools. 2.. badmouth American tool companies, don’t help Americans have jobs, keep Asians working in bad work environments for little wages so you can get your free , cheap Communist China tools.
3. Sell your soul on YT for views and money , because your not smart enough to become wealthy making a living at a trade.
4. Your own your way ….
How much should I have saved to open a small shop?
This people are just trying to glorify themselves.
How do you give customers estimates on what certain parts on a vehicle cost to fix.? Example starter repairs, head gasket replacement or repair. If I ever opened up a shop I definitely don't want to be that shop that rips customers off. One thing I've always wanted to know how mechanics quoted customers on any mechanical job.
Ain’t nobody my boss but me
I want to open a mechanic shop. Do you think I would also need to work on cars or can I just run the shop?
Guess I’m not doing a shop now 😭 stuck working for the man
Good … Discussion was quit discouraging … 👍👍
Hahahaha if we still like stupid Americans “DO NOT DO THIS OR THAT” wi will be dead long time ago.
I hear 2 whiners, whining and complaining about how tough everything is. Stop complaining cause its bringing me down. Not watching your shit anymore.
I disagree with all. Sounds like she regrets her decisions and is discouraging everyone
Do you think you need to be ASE certified to open your own business and become a shop owner/operator? 🤔
Either work for someone building their dream, or work for yourself building your own… That's my mentality especially with lots of jobs becoming literal slave work with no opportunity to grow… Just my two cents
