We know how hard and complex it is to adjust the height of a tool. And how frustrating all the more to cause damage just because of miscalculation.
So… We’ve made sure that this problem will no longer be a problem – through Masso’s Automatic Tool Zero.
With Auto Tool Zero, your work will be much easier!
Here are the steps below.
Step 1: Start by positioning a touch plate on the machine bed at a fixed position.
Step 2: Wire the connection to any 32 inputs we have on the MASSO
Step 3: Go to F1 set up MASSO screen. Go to input 32 and Select Tool
Setter input.
Step 4: Go to F3 screen. Position the tool in the middle of the touch
plate.
Step 5: Copy the X and Y machine coordinates
Step 6: Go back to F1 screen. Go to Auto Tool Zero. Enable Automatic
Tool Zero. Assign the Value of X and Y locations. Enter a Z safe
distance to tool setter. Enter a value in Tool Zero Feed Rate in which you like to zero your tool.
Step 7: Every time there is a Tool Change command, MASSO will come on the Location Changer. Automatically stops the Spindle then
ask to change the tool.
Step 8: Run the test program. Load the file. The controller will request to Load Tool Number 3. After changing the tool press Enter or click OK.
Step 9: MASSO will start the Tool Zero process. It will start the plate and machining.

Did I miss the bit where you enter the height of the puck?
Hey, can you give me your cnc CAD or Solidworks files? I need for my graduation project 😀
Rigid taping need to be add also…
Looking to a masso but would like a complete video series on how to set up a ATC…ie setting up masso setting up tool locations set up tool height and defining a touch plate location . And calibrating tools for multiple ie a video for multiple tools set up. So new user can see the complete full setup procedure.
Please make to a newbie video how too. From Start to end
I've been over the documentation on the website as well as this video. First my machine rapids to the top z height after tool change. It then rapids to the xy coordinate for the plate but doesn't probe the tool. It just stops? If I give a g38.2 command it will probe to the plate but then just stops on top of it.
Hello and thank you for the video. I've been zeroing my tool at the top of the part using paper as you describe, and was interested in automating my tool zeroing. But I don't really understand the benefit of using auto touch-off if I have to go use the manual method to establish the G54 work offset in order to use the tool offset referenced to the table with the table as Z0. Seems I save time just going ahead with the manual method on the top of the part as I have been doing. Am I not thinking about this correctly? Thanks for any more info you can provide.
That's next on my MASSO – great idea! Well explained.
Sir what is the difference between cnc router and VMC machine i am operating VMC machine but I want to operate cnc router and i also know Autocad and Artcam
I am big fan for your sir your video motivates me thanks sir
I am from india
So Simple when you can see it being done. Please keep these instructional vidoes coming, Thanks
hi, thank you for nice tutorial, can this be used on any CNC. and what do i need for that.
If your spindle isn't controlled through MASSO after the tool height is set it starts to run the g-code. Is there a way of pausing MASSO to give me time to start the spindle before continuing the g-code?
Very good video Jatinda
Yes, yes, yes! Keep these features coming!
I am doing customized installation of Masso and believe that Masso is the future of CNC.
Do you have a distributor here in europe?
Very good and instructive video on the MASSO controller . Keep 'em coming. Thank you for sharing.
