The YouTube app has a new feature that automatically plays videos on your home feed without any audio. Watch this video to learn a bit about the new Autoplay on Home feature on YouTube and showing you how to disable it if you’d like to.
When you open the YouTube app on your mobile device, if you scroll down on your home feed you’ll see that videos will begin to play automatically, without any audio. YouTube says this feature is intended to make it easier to preview videos before watching them and help users decide what you want to watch next.
If you aren’t a fan of this and want to turn the feature off, tap your profile icon in the top right corner. Then select Settings. Scroll down to Autoplay. Then tap Autoplay on Home. Now you can customize your Autoplay on Home settings to only be used when you’re connected to Wi-Fi so you don’t have to worry about wasting any data, or Off if you don’t want to use the feature at all.
